Convallaria majalis, or the lily of the valley / lily-of-the-valley, is a beloved perennial because of her excellent perfumed flowers which appear in May.

Used since ancient times, the flowers are still used frequently in wedding bouquets.
That's probably because of the popular belief that lily of the valley brings luck in love.

For this purpose rhizomes are forced into flower year round by some specialised growers.

In France friends and beloved give eachother a small bunch of lilies (muquets) on May 1st.
